Week 1, Day 5 – DC Motors, Relays and Step Motors

Day 5 schedule:

  • Lessons 29 to 33
    • Lesson 24: DC Motors.
    • Lesson 30 Relay.
    • Lesson 31 Stepper Motor. Challenge: change number of rotations.
    • Lesson 32 Controlling Stepper Motor With Remote.
    • Lesson 33 Controlling Stepper Motor With Rotary Encoder.
  • English:
    • Kahoots.

Observations: relay was hard to insert into breadboard. Students moved fast on these and were asked to cover projects that were skipped previously e.g. the RFID project. With that, all the projects in the first kit were covered. The participants had experienced basic Arduino programming but had been exposed to many types of accessory parts for use in future projects. Many of the parts were also used in kit 2 for constructing the included car: DC motors, servo motor, ultrasonic sensor, gyroscope, IR remote.

On the English part, the participants enjoyed kahoots again.

At the end of the class, we discussed the plans for week 2. We were going to use the second kit to build the included car, and then use the tutorial code to do miscellaneous exercises culminating in a competition on the last day of class.

Next: week 2, day 1.
